Practice Description

Mr. Jewett's practice consists of a wide range of corporate and securities law matters including many major Canadian and international corporate finance and merger and acquisition transactions. Mr. Jewett has participated in many of the largest acquisitions and divestitures in Canada in recent years and many of the large public privatizations by the federal and provincial governments. Recent transactions have included National Bank of Canada's merger with First Marathon, Uniphase's merger with JDS Fitel, Luscar Coal's successful hostile take-over of Manalta Coal, Petro-Canada's proposed refining and marketing joint venture with Ultramar, the EdperBrascan sale of London Insurance, the merger of Edper and Brascan, Coors' joint venture with Molson and Fosters, Service Corporation International's tender offer for Loewen, Petro-Canada's share capital reorganization and international offering, CanWest Global's international share offering, CanWest Global's takeover bid for WIC, the proposed privatization of Newfoundland Hydro and the reorganization and sale of Royal Trustco to the Royal Bank of Canada.
