Practice Description

Mr. Hainey practises commercial litigation. He has appeared as counsel before the courts of Ontario at all levels, and before the New Brunswick and British Columbia Supreme Courts in respect of proceedings involving competition law offences, contractual and commercial disputes, allegations of professional negligence, fraud, environmental offences, product liability claims, and other civil, criminal and regulatory matters. He has also appeared as counsel on behalf of the major U.S. motion picture producers at extensive hearings before the Copyright Board of Canada. Mr. Hainey has considerable judicial review experience before the Federal Court (Trial Division) and the Federal Court of Appeal.
