Practice Description

Mr. Newbould's practice has consisted entirely of litigation in a wide range of cases, including commercial and corporate matters, banking transactions, competition matters, real estate disputes, taxation matters and others. He has appeared in all levels of court, including the trial level, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and before many administrative tribunals. He has also acted in many arbitration matters. Mr. Newbould was recently counsel to The Public Guardian & Trustee and the Attorney General of Ontario in the litigation regarding the sale of control of Maple Leaf Gardens, Limited by the Estate of Harold E. Ballard to Maple Leaf Ventures Limited controlled by Mr. Stavro. That case involved extensive mediation leading to an eventual settlement.
