Practice Description
Mr. Roland has litigated disputes arising in many areas of law, acting on behalf of numerous clients, both domestic and foreign, corporate and individual. Today, a substantial portion of his litigation practice is in the corporate-commercial, intellectual property, pension and product liability areas. He has also developed considerable expertise in corporate governance, oppression and valuation cases. Mr. Roland frequently appears in courts at all levels in Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada at both the trial and appeal level and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared before administrative tribunals including the Ontario and National Energy Boards, the Ontario Securities Commission and several other administrative tribunals. Noteworthy reported cases include Brant Investments Ltd. v. KeepRite Inc. (1991), 3 O.R. (3d) 289 (Ont. C.A.), aff'g (1983), 44 O.R. (2d) 661 (Ont. H.C.J.) and (1987), 60 O.R. (2d) 469 (Ont.
