Practice Description
Mr. Weir is active in the firm's corporate and commercial department, with a particular emphasis on corporate finance, acquisitions and pension matters. He has practised extensively in the pension law field since 1983 and has advised several corporate clients on pension issues arising out of the purchase and sale of businesses; on pension fund surplus issues (reversion/contribution, holidays/mergers); on compliance issues regarding pension fund investments; on responsibilities and potential liability in connection with pension fund administration (including senior management, boards of directors and trustees) including the review of policies and procedures. Mr. Weir has been retained by the Pension Commission of Ontario to provide legal opinions. He has represented several clients in hearings before the Pension Commission of Ontario and Financial Services Tribunal. |
